UMDC Helps to Rebuild our Community

John Adams Homes II

What is the John Adams II project? The John Adams II project is 11 homes being built around the John Adams High School site. Five of the 11 homes will be Green Built Homes.

The first 6 properties will have rich and exciting colors with beautiful landscaped yards. Newly designed interiors will make you rush home from work, lock your doors and just say aaaahhhh...I'm home! Some of the new features will be working fireplaces, ceramic tile kitchens and baths and hardwood floors. Doesn't that sound lovely?

UMDC will then unveil its first of five energy-efficient Green Built Homes!

A Green Built Home is a superior product that keeps its resale value, saves money on utility bills, provides a better indoor environmental quality and gives homeowners and their families a sense of pride and well-being in knowing that their home has a reduced impact on our environment. Home buyers who purchase a Green Built Home benefit in many ways including eligibility for rebates of $250 or more through the Home Performance Rating program. Homes receiving certification receive a Green Built Home plaque and an EPA Energy Star home rating.

Benefits for the Environment: Green Built Homes have less impact on the environment than traditionally built homes because by design they conserve water, energy and other natural resources, are energy efficient, and use recycled or renewable products and materials. Green building materials and products are made from recycled content thus reducing the need and energy to extract new materials. They are resource efficient and produce less waste than typical products and have a long life cycle requiring less maintenance.

All of the homes will be in the $130,000 to $150,000 range. Locations are:

  • 4 homes on Farrington Avenue
  • 1 home on East 120th Street
  • 2 homes on Holbourne
  • 1 home on Dove Avenue
  • 1 home on Gay Avenue
  • 1 home on Angelus Avenue
